The Green Leaf team, summer 2021

The story

Green Leaf Design & Build was established in 2008 by Jason Caddy, focused on highly skilled and ecologically friendly building and joinery techniques. The company has always upheld a strong set of values in their work – to promote healthy, safe, environmentally friendly construction, and to do the job efficiently, affordably and to an exceptional level of quality.

Humble beginnings

Our first project in 2008 was a 55m2 eco-mobile home, incorporating solar thermal and a wood stove with back boiler, built for just £25,000.

Natural materials

We use enrivonmentally friendly, low impact materials from start to finish - including locally sourced timber, sheeps wool and recycled paper insulation.

In-house design

Our design & build processes streamline your project, as we carry it through for you from concept to completion - and our design expertise and technical detailing ensure clear and easy communication with clients, legislators and sub-contractors alike.

Sustainability

Guided by Passivhaus design principles, our builds incoporate a variety of solar thermal, MVHR, rainwater harvesting, wood fires and exceptional air-tightness and insulation options to our clients' desires.

The future

A company is only as strong as its people - and that's where we really shine. Our team of experienced builders, designers, joiners and finishers share a passion for what we do.

Jason Caddy

Director

Jason is a certified Passive House Designer and has been building with those same ideals in mind since he was a teenager. He learned his craft in and around the Findhorn Foundation, working with people from all over the world who came together there to lend their skills to community led construction. After finishing his apprenticeship, he began to make plans to start his own company, originally dubbed ‘the Findhorn Woodworkers Collective’. Over the next few years, this grew to become Green Leaf Design & Build.

Ruari Wallace

Director

Ruari started learning his craft at a young age, helping his father build their own home on a croft on the West Coast. From picking up lost screws and fetching tools for his dad, he became an apprentice to a local company in Moray in his teens, where he learned his trade. He joined the Green Leaf team in 2010, drawn by his passion for quality and hard work, and has been leading the build crew since 2015.

The team

The crew that bring it all to life

Our close-knit team have come together over a shared love of fine craftsmanship, care and attention to detail, and environmentally friendly construction. From joiners to builders to tilers to plasterers, we do a bit of everything to bring the project together, and we all bring our unique skills and contributions to every build. We are passionate about treating our customers well - and doing the same for each other.
